Research & Evidence Base

Our clinical approach is informed by published, peer-reviewed research in regenerative medicine. We do not offer experimental treatments. The therapies delivered through our service sit within an actively researched, internationally published, and TGA-regulated field of medicine.

Delivered under the clinical care of a registered medical practitioner, within an accredited hospital.

This section provides factual, balanced information about the science underpinning the field — not promotional claims about our specific services.

Understanding the Regulatory Framework

Australia’s regulatory framework for advanced biological therapies is among the most rigorous in the world. The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulates this class of treatment as a biological — a distinct and heavily governed category that requires compliance with the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989.

TGA-regulated biologicals must meet manufacturing, quality, and safety standards before they can be lawfully supplied in Australia. This stands in sharp contrast to the unregistered and offshore treatments that circulate under similar-sounding descriptions.

TGA-Regulated vs Unregistered Treatments

A significant number of providers in Australia and internationally offer procedures that use unregistered or unapproved biological products. These are not subject to TGA quality or safety standards, are not delivered within accredited clinical environments, and carry no regulated framework for patient follow-up or adverse event reporting.

When evaluating any provider in this space, the following questions matter:

✓
Is the product TGA-regulated?
✓
Is the procedure delivered within a TGA-licensed and accredited facility?
✓
Is there a qualified specialist involved in the assessment and delivery?
✓
Is there a documented clinical governance framework?

Aeterna’s answer to all four is yes.

The Research Landscape

Research into regenerative and biological medicine is one of the most active areas in contemporary clinical science. Published work spans orthopaedics, neurology, immunology, and metabolic medicine. The evidence base continues to mature, and Aeterna’s clinical team stays involved and current with published literature as a condition of practice.

We do not make claims about outcomes on this website. We do not reproduce testimonials. We do not present selective research to support a commercial position.

If you want to understand the current evidence base, we encourage you to review peer-reviewed sources directly — and to have that conversation with your treating doctor.
